Why The Highlands

The Highlands is the Boyne-owned, all-season resort just outside Harbor Springs, known for years as Boyne Highlands. It is Northern Michigan's premier golf and ski address for buyers who want resort amenities at their doorstep.

Golf, Skiing and the All-Season Calendar

The resort anchors the lifestyle, with four championship golf courses and the largest skiable terrain in the Lower Peninsula, home to the state's longest run and new heated lifts. Zip-lining, equestrian, mountain biking, and cross-country trails round out the calendar, and Harbor Springs' downtown is only minutes away.

What Homes Cost at The Highlands

Homes at The Highlands run from slopeside condominiums to golf-course houses and larger chalets, a natural fit for second-home buyers who want a turnkey base. Bob and Trish understand the resort's associations, rental rules, and the differences between golf and ski locations, and they make sure buyers choose a property that matches how they will actually use it.

Favorites at the Resort

Favorites at the resort: the four championship courses, including the one-of-a-kind Donald Ross Memorial; Slopeside Grill, widely called the best in town; the Zoo Bar for apres-ski; upscale dining at the Country Club of Boyne; and, in winter, Michigan's longest ski run right outside the door.

Questions Buyers Ask About The Highlands

What Buyers Want to KnowThe Highlands against Boyne Mountain, the off-season, living here year-round, and condo or homeView QuestionsClose▾
What is The Highlands, and how is it different from Boyne Mountain?▾

The Highlands is the resort formerly known as Boyne Highlands, north of Harbor Springs. Both are Boyne resorts and both offer skiing and golf. The practical difference for a buyer is location: The Highlands sits minutes from Harbor Springs and the Lake Michigan shoreline, while Boyne Mountain sits above Boyne City and Lake Charlevoix.

What is there to do at The Highlands outside ski season?▾

A wide variety of activities. The resort's golf courses open once the snow is gone and run through fall, the trails that carry skiers in winter carry hikers and mountain bikers in summer, and the resort keeps its restaurants and events going through the warm months. Harbor Springs, its harbor and the Lake Michigan beaches are minutes down the hill, and the Tunnel of Trees drive starts just beyond town.

Can you live at The Highlands year-round?▾

Yes, the character shifts with the season. Winter is the resort at full tilt; summer is golf and the drive down to Harbor Springs. Year-round buyers should ask about road maintenance and snow removal on the specific street, and about what the association covers in winter.

Should I buy a resort condominium or a home?▾

They address different needs. A condominium is close to lock-and-leave, with exterior maintenance and snow handled, which suits someone who arrives for weekend holidays. A home gives space, land and control, and hands back the maintenance. The financial pictures differ, since association dues, rental rules and financing terms are not the same for the two. Be sure to review the association documents.
